designs from work

killing time is a great way to get the creative juices flowing. a couple weeks ago i made that drawing of the manhattan bridge and today i just created this logo thing. i don't know what it's suppose to be, just cool looking i guess.

i got the idea after i saw a sticker on the street that had city names listed at the bottom like on ads for retail chains saying where they have stores. the names stuck out though because they weren't typical city names like london, miami, or tokyo. the cities included milan, brunei, and gstaad, a skiing town in switzerland. i thought that was pretty ridiculous so i wanted to make a logo with equally ridiculous cities. and i did.

meet the mets (field)

last week, adrianne achieved the unthinkable. she secured an assignment no other reporter at her paper had ever secured. she ventured out to shea stadium for an interview with the head groundskeeper for the new york mets. this has been her greatest triumph to date in writing her column on cool new york city jobs - "gotham gigs". as some of you may recall her past subjects include the light operator at the empire state building, puppet doctor for "the lion king" and head research librarian at the new york public library. while at shea she was able to charm her way onto the field where she took the above photograph, for you, my loyal readers (all one of you, dad).

ed. note: written with generous contributions from adrianne

manhattan bridge

i drew a picture of the manhattan bridge during my down time at work. this is the view from the corner of front street and washington street in DUMBO. the empire state building actually does line up perfectly in the east tower of the bridge.
